I love each season as it comes because I always ready to welcome the new one.

If I’m pressed to choose a favorite, however, it would be summer.  Just not mid-to-late August.  The time period before school starts.  Like, um, NOW.  Because, you see, I am ready to welcome autumn.

Is it just me and my kids?  I am DONE with summer.  Or more precisely, I am done with being together.  Normally, we don’t spend so much time together.  The kids have preschool, activities, playdates, etc.  Kids nap, I get a little break.

Summer time brings less of a schedule.  Sure, I sign the kids up for various camps, but those are just a week (or so) at a time.  We fill the rest of our time by going to the pool.  We travel by taking trips to Grandma’s and to the beach.  Our schedule is different each week, it seems.

Naps aren’t as sacred, and bedtime is flexible since it’s light out so late.  The kids are tired.  I’m tired.  We’re tired of each other.  By the time we reach this point in the summer, we are ready for some normalcy.  The kids have figured out how to push my buttons.  They’ve figured out how to push each others’ buttons.  There’s a lot of whining.  A lot of tantrumming.  A lot of crying.

And that’s just from me.

I am totally ready for summer to be over, but only because it has been so bloody hot these last few weeks. My favorite season is Autumn. Give me a cozy sweater and the smell of fireplaces anytime over shorts (ha, like I’ve worn shorts in five years) and suntan lotion.

Sing it, sister! I am DYING. Every day of August has been an eternity. My kids get along well for the most part but spending 14 hours a day with each other, and their c-r-a-n-k-y mommy, um, yeah. Let’s just say it hasn’t been pretty in the yelling department. And I had my kids in camp for five weeks! Even the days out of the city have been eternal and trying. Please bring me October. :)

Strange that I never got notified of your comment. Huh.

The worst part of it is that I always love having The Husband around in the summertime to help out…but this summer, I am ready for him to go back to work. He is ready to go back to work. The kids are playing him and me and we both know it and are sick to death of it!!

The summer went by so fast this year, and my youngest is entering Kindergarten. I’m so excited! Looking forward to the new school year.

I’m totally ready for Autumn! I’m tired of trying to figure out what to do with my kid. Not having any organized activities (or some sort of regular thing to look forward to) is driving me beserk. Thank god she starts pre-k in October.
